Melissa Errico: Americans in London

Society friend Melissa Errico returns to London and the subterranean Crazy Coqs for a three-dates cabaret entitled Amour & After, in honour of her close friend, the composer Michel Legrand.

From the Crazy Coqs:

“Melissa Errico is, and will continue to be, the premier interpreter of the musical legacy of Michel Legrand” a dazzled critic wrote this year. The only American artist invited to perform at Legrand’s great memorial in Paris in 2019 – and the New York Times’ choice to write his eulogy – every New York critic raved about Melissa Errico’s new show of the music of Michel Legrand, Amour and After. Amour was the title of Michel’s only Broadway musical, which earned Melissa a Tony Award nomination. She explains, 'I call the show Amour & After because that’s also the great subject of all French songs: ‘Amour’ – love! — and everything that comes afterwards.'

Accompanied by Ronnie Scott’s James Pearson on piano, Melissa’s show includes many Legrand classics, from 'Watch What Happens' to 'Windmills of Your Mind' – and she’ll also sing the music of Charles Trenet, Cole Porter in Paris, and Sondheim painting in Seurat’s Sunday park, as well as the premiere of the last song that Legrand ever composed with his favourite lyric writing team, Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Devoted to the composer with whom she had a close working relationship, Melissa brings an insider’s witty stories and her unique theatrical enchantment to all of Legrand."

Tickets are available now from BrasserieZedel

Melissa’s new album Legrand Affair: Deluxe Edition was recently released on Warner Music.
