Liaisons: Piano Dialogues with Anthony de Mare
On Saturday 26 March, the final seven pieces of the extended Liaisons Project will receive their New York premieres.
Conceived by acclaimed concert pianist Anthony de Mare, Liaisons is a landmark commissioning and concert project that brings together today’s leading classical, jazz, theatre, film and indie composers to re-imagine Stephen Sondheim’s songs as solo piano pieces. This remarkable compendium of new music breaks open the boundaries between musical theatre and concert music while making the case for Sondheim as one of today’s most influential composers.
Conrad Tao will join Mr de Mare for the premiere of his two-piano work Move On, as well as a reprise of Steve Reich's Finishing the Hat – Two Pianos. The programme for the concert:
