Company at the Edinburgh Fringe
Edinburgh University Footlights has opened tonight at Edinburgh Fringe with one of the few Sondheim shows on offer this year: Company.
In the lead role of Bobby is Society friend Conor Ó'Cuinn (aka Quinn), who first came to our attention when we sponsored his place on the Associated Studios Sondheim Masterclass with Gareth Valentine in 2019. Conor, a graduate of LAMDA and The Actor's Training Company, is currently an MA student at Edinburgh University. And as part of the Footlights, he's now facing the challenge of playing one of Sondheim's most iconic leading men.
As commitment-phobe Bobby, Conor's treading in some impressive footprints - Dean Jones, Larry Kert, George Chakiris, Boyd Gaines, Adrian Lester, John Barrowman, Raúl Esparza and Daniel Evans have all tackled the role, as of course, has Rosalie Craig in Marianne Elliott's recent gender-flipped production. But judging by the promotional stills, he's taking it all in his stride! If you're in Edinurgh this season, please give him your support and pop along...
