Book now for SSSSPOTY 2019
The Stephen Sondheim Society and Mercury Musical Developments are excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for the 2019 Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Award and Stiles+Drewe Prize. The event – better known as SSSSPOTY and now in its 13th year – seeks to find the best student performer of a Sondheim song, and the best new song written for musical theatre.
This year's final will take place at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on Sunday 9th June, and as ever the critic and broadcaster Edward Seckerson will be chairing the panel of celebratory judges. Last year's winner, Alex Cardall, will be making a return to perform his winning song from last year, and composer/lyricist partnership of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe will be presenting the 12 finalists from the Best New Song Prize.
For a taster of what to expect, check out our gallery of recent Finals. Your support for this event is fully appreciated – all proceeds from SSSSPOTY go towards championing young, emerging talent and encouraging new writing for the stage, so please join us for a cracking afternoon of talent.
The Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year and Stiles + Drewe Prize 2019 is being staged in aid of the Stephen Sondheim Society and Mercury Musical Developments (Registered Charity Nos. 1142092 and 1045606).
